Ukrainian Intelligence Identifies Russian Figures in Disinformation Campaigns

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, in collaboration with the Center for Counteracting Disinformation, has released information regarding five Russian bloggers and public figures involved in disinformation efforts aimed at justifying the war against Ukraine. This announcement was made on the official website of the intelligence agency.

According to the report, the inclusion of these individuals underscores the systematic and coordinated nature of Russia’s propaganda initiatives at the state level. The intelligence agency emphasized the need for global action against these propagandists.

“Today’s list of figures confirms the systematic and coordinated nature of Russia’s propaganda efforts at the state level,” the report stated.

The identified individuals include:

  • Vladimir Agranovich, a Russian director who has received government grants for creating propaganda materials about Donbas and has been recognized for his cultural activities in the so-called ‘new territories’;
  • Sergey Kolyasnikov, a member of the bloggers’ council in the State Duma of Russia, who runs his own Telegram channel and contributes to outlets such as ‘Lenta.ru’, ‘Gazeta.Ru’, and ‘RIA Novosti’;
  • Stalina Gurevich, a Russian public figure and lawyer, who is an expert at the NGO ‘Monitoring Center for Detecting Dangerous and Prohibited Content’.

The Ukrainian intelligence agency reiterated that Russian influence agents and propaganda outlets must be blocked worldwide. They called upon free nations to take decisive actions against the ‘propaganda army’ of the aggressor, which includes implementing personal sanctions, blocking public and financial activities, prohibiting entry, and completely halting any cooperation with those who support Russia’s war through their words.

“The GUR of Ukraine, together with the Center for Counteracting Disinformation, urges free countries to take decisive actions against the ‘propaganda army’ of the aggressor—implementing personal sanctions, blocking public and financial activities, prohibiting entry, and completely halting any cooperation with those who support Russia’s war through their words,” the statement concluded.

The Ukrainian intelligence has identified five Russian figures involved in disinformation campaigns aimed at justifying the war against Ukraine. This move highlights the need for international action against such propaganda efforts.
