Ukraine Accuses Russia of Grain Theft Amid Ongoing Conflict

During the third Black Sea Security Conference in Chișinău, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha reported that Russia has stolen approximately 2 million tons of Ukrainian grain in 2025, distributing it across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.

Sybiha emphasized that Russia has transformed the Black Sea into a war zone, systematically targeting Ukraine’s maritime infrastructure, including ports, and attempting to destabilize global food supply chains.

According to the minister, last year, a significant portion of the stolen grain—around 40%—was directed to Egypt. He noted that this issue extends beyond the theft of grain, linking it to the financing of the ongoing conflict.

The minister stressed that restoring security in the Black Sea region is essential for the stability of Europe and the world, advocating for the Black Sea to be a space of peace and freedom of navigation.

Sybiha also pointed out that Ukraine’s security is inseparable from maritime safety and the presence of allies in the Black Sea. He highlighted the potential roles of Turkey, Moldova, and Romania in fostering regional stability.

Furthermore, he underscored the urgent need for the de-occupation of Crimea, which Russia has been using as a military base for its attacks. He stated, “The only solution is the complete restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity. It all starts with Crimea and must end there. Crimea is Ukraine.”

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has accused Russia of stealing millions of tons of grain and selling it internationally, linking this to broader geopolitical instability. He emphasized the need for regional security and the importance of de-occupying Crimea to restore Ukraine's territorial integrity.
