On Saturday, March 21, Russian forces launched an attack on the village of Maidan in the Kramatorsk district, according to reports from the Donetsk regional prosecutor’s office.
The assault involved the use of the Lancet drone, targeting residential buildings. A 63-year-old woman was killed in the attack, while four other civilians—a 30-year-old man, two women aged 52 and 65, and a 15-year-old boy—sustained injuries. They were treated for various wounds, including explosive and traumatic brain injuries, shrapnel wounds, fractures, lacerations, and contusions.
In addition to the human toll, the attack damaged 35 private homes and vehicles in the vicinity of the strike.
Russian military forces have been consistently targeting Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure with a range of weapons, including strike drones, missiles, and multiple rocket launch systems.
Ukrainian officials and international organizations have classified these attacks as war crimes, asserting that they are deliberate in nature. The strikes on essential services and healthcare facilities aim to deprive civilians of electricity, heating, water supply, communication, and medical assistance, which some have described as genocidal actions.
Russian leadership, however, denies that its military conducts targeted strikes against civilian infrastructure, claiming that such accusations are unfounded.
