Lina Kostenko’s New Poetry Collection Set for April Release

The renowned Ukrainian poetess Lina Kostenko is set to release a new collection of poetry titled “Wind from Mars” in April, coinciding with her 96th birthday. The announcement was made by the publishing house Ababahalamaha via their Telegram channel.

“Wind from Mars” is described as a unique exploration of Ukraine through the lens of the poet’s soul, portraying a nation that is both wounded and resilient, with spiritual boundaries that transcend time. The collection delves into themes of tragic prophecies, incisive reflections on political realities, and nostalgic dimensions of human existence.

The publishing team emphasized that the ongoing war is not merely a historical atrocity but represents a global threat to the planet.

On March 19, Kostenko celebrated her 96th birthday. Former Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and current Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, shared a video reading Kostenko’s poem “Life Goes On and Everything Is Without Corrections” in tribute to her work.

Kostenko is celebrated for her significant contributions to Ukrainian literature, including the epic poems “Marusya Churai” and “Berestechko,” as well as the novel “Notes of a Ukrainian Madman” and various poignant verses such as “Terrible Words When They Are Silent” and “Wings.” She remains one of Ukraine’s most esteemed literary figures.

Lina Kostenko's upcoming poetry collection, "Wind from Mars," will be released in April to mark her 96th birthday. The work reflects on Ukraine's struggles and resilience, addressing contemporary issues through a poetic lens.
