Ukraine Identifies Critical Infrastructure for Enhanced Protection

The Ukrainian government has identified 210 critical infrastructure sites across ten regions for immediate fortification efforts. An allocation of over 11 billion hryvnias is planned to support these initiatives.

This decision follows a meeting of the Coordination Center in Chernihiv, which outlined funding priorities for nine regions, including Kyiv. The focus is on safeguarding energy and other strategic facilities, particularly in frontline areas such as Chernihiv and Sumy.

“We are preparing to allocate 11.2 billion hryvnias from the state budget’s reserve fund at the next government meeting. This will facilitate the rapid commencement of construction for new protective measures,” stated Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Svyrydenko.

In addition to infrastructure protection, the government is developing measures to support the private sector. A program for accessible loans aimed at enhancing energy independence is in the works.

The proposed initiative includes a fixed interest rate of 7% per annum for the duration of the loan, enabling businesses to secure alternative energy sources and maintain operations amid power outages.

During the meeting, particular attention was given to frontline regions, where the threat of infrastructure attacks remains significant. The implementation of a resilience plan for Kyiv, previously submitted by the city authorities, was also discussed.

Concurrently, the government is coordinating efforts with international partners to secure additional funding for the restoration and strengthening of Ukraine’s energy system.

The Ukrainian government has earmarked over 11 billion hryvnias for the protection of critical infrastructure across ten regions, focusing on energy security and business support. Measures include accessible loans for businesses to enhance energy independence amid ongoing threats.
