Ukrainian Officials Brief Diplomats on Russian Attacks on Druzhba Pipeline

Ukrainian state energy company Naftogaz, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, held a briefing for foreign diplomats to discuss recent Russian attacks on the Druzhba oil pipeline infrastructure. The session included representatives from 31 countries, notably G7 members and other European partners.

Serhiy Koretsky, the head of Naftogaz, reported that the briefing provided comprehensive details about the nature of the attacks and their consequences, including photographic and video evidence from the sites. He emphasized the challenges faced by Ukrainian teams in addressing these incidents.

Koretsky noted that the restoration of such infrastructure is a complex technological process that requires time, specialized equipment, and operations under the persistent threat of further Russian strikes. He stated that Naftogaz and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to update international partners on the impacts of these attacks and the progress of recovery efforts.

It remains unclear whether Hungarian experts or diplomats participated in the briefing, following a recent visit by a Hungarian delegation to assess the status of the Druzhba pipeline. The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified that this delegation did not hold official status or scheduled meetings during their visit.

Prior to the briefing, on March 11, a Hungarian delegation arrived in Ukraine to investigate the situation surrounding the Druzhba pipeline. However, Ukrainian officials indicated that the visit had not been formally approved in the manner requested by Budapest.

Ukrainian officials provided foreign diplomats with detailed information regarding Russian attacks on the Druzhba oil pipeline, emphasizing the complexities of restoration efforts. The briefing included representatives from various nations, highlighting ongoing international cooperation in addressing energy infrastructure challenges.
