Russian Forces Launch Extensive Drone and Missile Strikes on Ukrainian Energy Infrastructure

In the early hours of March 14, Russian military forces executed a large-scale attack on the energy infrastructure of Kyiv and the surrounding Kyiv region, employing a combination of drones and missiles. This assault also affected energy facilities in several other regions, leading to widespread power outages across Ukraine.

Reports from the Ministry of Energy and the national energy company, Ukrenergo, indicate that consumers in Kyiv, as well as in the Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipropetrovsk regions, are experiencing disruptions in their electricity supply.

From 8:00 AM until the end of the day, scheduled power outages have been implemented in response to the attacks. These measures include restrictions on electricity consumption, particularly for industrial users, and rolling blackouts affecting all categories of consumers.

Ukrenergo has advised residents to check the official websites of their local energy providers for information on potential outages specific to their addresses.

The Ministry of Energy reassured the public that emergency recovery operations are underway wherever the security situation permits. Rescue and energy teams are working diligently to restore power as quickly as possible.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the Russian offensive involved the launch of 430 strike drones, including Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas models, alongside 68 missiles from both land and sea platforms. Ukrainian air defense successfully intercepted 402 drones and 58 missiles during the engagement.

Russian forces targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure with a significant drone and missile strike, resulting in widespread power outages across multiple regions. Emergency recovery efforts are ongoing as authorities implement scheduled blackouts to manage the situation.
