On March 12, during an official visit to Romania, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed several partnership agreements with Romanian President Nicolae Ciucă in Bucharest. This event was highlighted during a joint press conference that followed their bilateral meeting.
The agreements include a framework for cooperation in the energy sector and a declaration of intent for joint defense production. Additionally, the two leaders formalized a strategic partnership declaration between Kyiv and Bucharest.
“We have signed a declaration of strategic partnership. This is a significant moment in our bilateral relations… One of the documents pertains to the joint production of drones in Romania,” commented Ciucă.
During the press conference, Zelensky and Ciucă also announced efforts to open new border crossing points, with results expected by this summer. They are also initiating the construction of two new supply lines as part of the signed agreements on interconnectors, aimed at supporting the Chernivtsi region.
Furthermore, Zelensky informed reporters that Ukraine will now celebrate Romanian Language Day annually on August 31, following the issuance of a presidential decree published on the Office of the President’s website.
President Zelensky arrived in Romania on the morning of March 12 and is scheduled to visit Paris on March 13 following his time in Bucharest.
