Russian Attacks Disrupt Power Supply in Eastern Ukraine Regions

Recent Russian strikes on energy infrastructure have left consumers in the Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, and Sumy regions without electricity, according to the Ukrainian energy company, Ukrenergo.

Ukrenergo reported that emergency restoration efforts are underway in areas where security conditions permit. The company noted that due to the aftermath of previous extensive Russian attacks, power restrictions are being implemented in certain regions, particularly for industrial consumers. During peak evening hours, scheduled outages may also affect all categories of consumers.

As of March 10, at 9:30 AM, electricity consumption showed a decreasing trend, with levels reported to be 4.4% lower than the same time the previous day.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated in a video address on March 1 that the country has endured the most challenging winter since the onset of the war, expressing gratitude to military and energy personnel for their efforts. However, he cautioned that Russian forces are unlikely to cease their attacks.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in February 2022, Russia has targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Following the onset of autumn 2025, attacks on energy facilities have intensified.

The Security Service of Ukraine has classified these strikes as crimes against humanity. The agency reported that since the start of the current heating season, it has documented at least 256 aerial attacks by Russia on energy facilities and heating systems across Ukraine.

Russian attacks on energy infrastructure continue to disrupt power supply in eastern Ukraine, prompting emergency restoration efforts and power restrictions. The Security Service of Ukraine has categorized these strikes as crimes against humanity.
