Ukrainian Forces Regain Control in Dnipropetrovsk Region Amid Ongoing Counteroffensive

Ukrainian defense forces have reportedly regained significant control in the Dnipropetrovsk region, with military operations focused on the Alexandrovsky direction. According to Major General Oleksandr Komarenko, head of the Main Operational Department of the General Staff, the military has liberated over 400 square kilometers of territory.

Komarenko indicated that the Ukrainian troops have conducted operations to clear areas previously infiltrated by Russian forces. He stated, “Almost the entire territory of the Dnipropetrovsk region has been liberated. Only three small settlements remain to be addressed, and two more need to be cleared.” He highlighted that these actions have resulted in a positive trend, with more territory regained than lost since February.

Reports indicate that Russian forces had entered the Dnipropetrovsk region in August 2025. In light of these developments, General Oleksandr Syrskiy, the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, emphasized the ongoing counteroffensive efforts aimed at seizing operational initiative and compelling the adversary to respond to Ukrainian strategies. Syrskiy noted that in the Alexandrovsky direction, Ukrainian forces have regained control over 285.6 square kilometers within a month.

The operations are focused on the border areas of Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions, collectively referred to as the Alexandrovsky direction in reports from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The timeline and specifics of the Ukrainian counteroffensive actions in this area remain largely undisclosed, as military operations have been conducted under conditions of near-total information silence. On March 3, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated in an interview with the Italian publication Corriere Della Sera that since the beginning of the year, Ukrainian forces have reclaimed 460 square kilometers of territory. He reiterated that Ukraine is not losing the war and is seeking dialogue aimed at achieving peace.

Ukrainian military operations in the Dnipropetrovsk region have led to the reclamation of over 400 square kilometers from Russian forces. The ongoing counteroffensive aims to regain control in strategically significant areas, reflecting a shift in operational dynamics.
