Ukraine Offers Expertise to Gulf Nations Against Iranian Drones

Ukraine has extended its expertise to Gulf countries to help counter Iranian drones, as part of its ongoing diplomatic efforts in the region. This initiative comes amid heightened concerns over the use of Iranian-made drones in aggressive military actions.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Stefanishyna, Ukraine aims to demonstrate to its partners that it can provide immediate solutions rather than mere political statements. She emphasized the importance of action and tangible effects in addressing security challenges.

President Volodymyr Zelensky has engaged in discussions with leaders from Gulf nations affected by Iranian drone strikes. Following these conversations, Ukraine responded to their requests for necessary expertise. Agreements for this support have also been coordinated with the U.S. government.

Stefanishyna highlighted that Iranian drones, particularly the Shahed model, have become a significant tool of aggression since December 2022. She noted that these drones were specifically developed and supplied to Russia for attacks on Ukrainian cities.

“These drones were intentionally designed and provided to Russia for strikes against urban areas, aiming to kill civilians rather than for frontline use,” she explained.

Additionally, she pointed out that Iran has utilized similar technology during recent Israeli-American operations in Iran.

While assisting its partners, Ukraine is also negotiating access to interceptor missiles for its air defense systems. Stefanishyna clarified that these discussions are not directly linked but acknowledged that as the conflict’s geography expands, the demand for such missiles is likely to increase. Ukraine is coordinating with European allies to ensure a steady supply of these critical defense resources.

Furthermore, Stefanishyna urged the international community not to overlook the roles of Russia and China in supporting Iran’s military capabilities.

Ukraine is providing expertise to Gulf nations to combat Iranian drones, reflecting its proactive diplomatic strategy. The country is also negotiating for air defense missiles amid rising regional tensions.
