Increased Surveillance on International Packages in Occupied Luhansk Region

Authorities in the temporarily occupied Luhansk region are intensifying scrutiny over residents receiving international shipments, particularly from European countries.

Postal service employees in Luhansk are now required to record personal details of recipients for international packages. This includes collecting names, residential addresses, and contact information.

The gathered data must be submitted to representatives of the occupying law enforcement agencies, effectively creating lists of residents receiving foreign shipments.

Special attention is being paid to packages sent from Europe. These shipments are not delivered directly but are routed through Russian cities.

Typically, such packages first arrive at logistics centers within Russia, often in cities like Rostov and Belgorod, which serve as transit points. After being processed by a Russian postal operator, the packages are then sent to Luhansk as domestic shipments within Russia.

It is these particular packages that are under the closest observation by the occupying authorities.

The Luhansk region has seen a rise in monitoring of international shipments, with postal workers mandated to collect recipient information. This initiative aims to track residents receiving packages from abroad, especially those originating in Europe.
