Rescue operations are ongoing in Kharkiv following a Russian missile strike that has claimed the lives of 11 individuals, including two children. Emergency services are actively working at the site of the five-story building that was hit.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES), the bodies of the deceased have been recovered from the debris. Initially, the mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov, reported ten fatalities, which later increased as search efforts continued.

Among the victims is a 13-year-old girl, as confirmed by Oleg Synegubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration. The SES has indicated that rescue teams, including sappers and canine units, are on-site to search for any additional survivors.

Reports suggest that there may still be individuals trapped under the rubble. The Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that the strike caused significant damage, destroying the entrance from the first to the fifth floor and impacting the structural integrity of adjacent apartments on the fourth and fifth floors.

As of now, ten people have been reported injured, including two children, while four individuals have been rescued from the wreckage.

Details of the Attack

The missile strike occurred during the night of March 7, targeting a residential building in the Kyiv district of Kharkiv. Initial reports indicated ten people injured, with the first confirmed casualty being a 65-year-old woman.

The mayor emphasized the extensive damage to the building, stating it has been nearly completely destroyed. Early estimates suggested that five individuals might still be trapped, but access has been hindered by ongoing fires.

In a related incident in Chuhuiv, also in Kharkiv Oblast, a man and woman sustained injuries from a drone strike on a private home around 1:20 AM, which ignited a fire covering approximately 40 square meters.
