President Donald Trump has announced that the U.S. Navy will begin escorting tankers through the Strait of Hormuz if necessary. This decision reflects the administration’s commitment to ensuring the safe passage of maritime energy shipments in this critical waterway.

In a statement shared on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump directed the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) to provide affordable political risk insurance and financial guarantees for all maritime transport, particularly for energy supplies traversing the Persian Gulf.

Trump emphasized the readiness of U.S. armed forces to facilitate uninterrupted transit through vital shipping routes. He stated, “If necessary, the U.S. Navy will begin escorting tankers through the Strait of Hormuz as soon as possible. Regardless of the circumstances, the United States will ensure the free flow of energy to the world.”
