Ukraine Intercepts Majority of Russian Drone Attack Amid Ongoing Tensions

In the early hours of March 2, Ukrainian air defense forces successfully intercepted a significant drone assault launched by Russia, involving 94 strike drones of various models, including Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that approximately 84 of these drones were neutralized during the operation, which was conducted from multiple launch points across Russia and occupied Crimea.

“On the night of March 2, the enemy attacked with 94 strike UAVs from directions including Orel, Millerovo, Shatalovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as Hvardiyiske in the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea. About 70 of these were Shahed drones,” the report stated.

The response from Ukraine involved a coordinated effort from aviation units, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups. These forces engaged the drones across various regions of the country, including the north, south, and east.

By 8:00 AM, Ukrainian air defense had managed to either shoot down or suppress 84 Russian drones, significantly mitigating the potential impact of the attack.

Despite the high interception rate, the assault resulted in the successful penetration of 10 drones, which struck four locations, and debris from the drones fell in two separate areas.

“The attack is ongoing, and several enemy drones remain in the airspace. Please adhere to safety regulations,” the Ukrainian Air Force advised.

Ukrainian air defense forces intercepted the majority of a large-scale drone attack from Russia, neutralizing 84 out of 94 drones. Despite this, some drones managed to strike multiple locations, underscoring ongoing tensions in the region.
