In the early hours of March 2, Russian forces launched a significant drone attack on Kryvyi Rih, targeting local industry and causing multiple fires. The regional administration reported that a facility was damaged, prompting a response from firefighters to manage the aftermath.
According to local authorities, the strikes involved at least five drones, identified as Shahed models, which were directed toward the city. Olexandr Vilkul, a local official, confirmed the ongoing assault shortly before the attack occurred.
This incident follows a previous combined assault on February 26, during which Kryvyi Rih experienced a series of strikes involving both missiles and drones. Approximately ten residential buildings were impacted, with one five-story structure sustaining severe damage, including a breached roof. Additionally, a kindergarten, a fire station, and several administrative buildings were affected, alongside damage to vehicles.
Earlier in the year, on January 8, Kryvyi Rih was again subjected to a combined attack that resulted in damage to 29 apartment buildings, ten business sites, and essential infrastructure. The frequency and intensity of these assaults highlight the ongoing security challenges faced by the region amidst the broader conflict.
