Ukraine and Russia have reached an agreement for a local ceasefire aimed at repairing a high-voltage power line that supplies electricity to the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced that this ceasefire, facilitated by their mediation, will enable the restoration of backup power supply at 330 kV for the facility.
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi also noted that demining operations are currently underway in the area where the repairs will take place, ensuring safe access for repair crews.
It is important to highlight that several local ceasefires have been declared in recent months between Ukraine and Russia, allowing repair teams to work on damaged power lines.
Earlier this year, Grossi revealed that the agency initiated discussions regarding the establishment of a temporary ceasefire zone approximately 10 kilometers from the damaged 330 kV distribution facility at the Zaporizhzhia plant.
