Ukraine’s Chief of Defense, Kyrylo Budanov, has articulated a vision for the future of Russia, asserting that the country must be dismantled as an empire to ensure regional stability. He emphasized that the core ideology of Russia has remained unchanged throughout its history, regardless of the ruling regime.
Budanov pointed out that the Russian government has never prioritized improving the living conditions of its citizens, whether during the Tsarist, Soviet, or current eras. He remarked, “The current policies of the Russian president do not significantly differ from those of past regimes. We should not expect Russia to change from within; instead, we must create conditions that lead to its dissolution as an empire.”
He further suggested that the emergence of several regional states within Russia could lead to a focus on the welfare of their respective populations. Budanov concluded, “Only then will Ukraine, Europe, and the entire world feel safer.”
