Ukrainian high jumper Yuliya Levchenko secured a bronze medal at the Continental Tour Gold series event held in Torun, Poland. Competing against five other athletes, Levchenko faced notable opponents, including Poland’s Maria Zhodzik, the silver medalist from the 2025 World Championships, and Jamaica’s Lamara Distin, the 2022 Commonwealth Games champion.
Levchenko began her competition at a height of 1.80 meters, clearing it effortlessly. She successfully passed three subsequent heights on her first attempts. At 1.91 meters, she remained in contention alongside three other jumpers, ensuring at least a bronze finish for herself.
The pivotal moment for Levchenko came at 1.94 meters, which she cleared on her third attempt. In contrast, Distin achieved this height on her first try, while Zhodzik cleared it on her second attempt.
Levchenko opted to skip the 1.96-meter height, which also proved challenging for Distin. Zhodzik, however, cleared it on her second attempt. The next height of 1.98 meters was also beyond Levchenko’s reach, while the Polish athlete secured victory by setting a personal record with her second jump at that height. Consequently, Levchenko finished the event with a bronze medal, narrowly missing out on silver to Distin based on attempts.
