Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his wife, Olena, paid tribute to those who lost their lives during the Revolution of Dignity at the Alley of the Heavenly Hundred in Kyiv.
The couple placed candles at the memorial cross located at the site where mass shootings of protesters occurred in February 2014.
In his remarks, President Zelensky emphasized the role of the Ukrainian people in securing freedom for the nation, stating, “It was the people who fought for Ukraine’s freedom. Ordinary individuals who care about the future of Ukraine and the lives of its children. We remember the sacrifices made in 2014 and honor the bravery of every participant in the Revolution of Dignity, all those who stood firm on Maidan to ensure that Ukraine remained free.”
Additionally, they paid their respects to the fallen Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred by gathering near their portraits. The ceremony was attended by 49 representatives from foreign missions accredited in Ukraine.
President Zelensky and his wife commemorated the victims of the Revolution of Dignity, highlighting the sacrifices made for Ukraine's freedom. The event included participation from various foreign diplomats, underscoring international recognition of the significance of this historical moment.
