In the early hours of February 20, Russia launched a significant aerial assault on Ukraine, deploying 128 attack drones, including models such as Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas, along with one Iskander-M ballistic missile. Ukrainian air defense forces successfully neutralized 107 of these drones during the operation.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that this latest wave of attacks was countered by a coordinated effort involving aviation units, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups from Ukraine’s defense forces.
According to preliminary data released by the Air Force, as of 8:30 AM, the air defense system had intercepted or suppressed 107 hostile drones across various regions, including the north, south, and east of the country. The Ukrainian forces noted that the attack resulted in the successful interception of a ballistic missile and 21 strike drones at 14 different locations, with debris reported to have fallen in one area.
