In the early hours of February 16, Russian military forces executed a combined assault on Ukraine, deploying six missiles and 62 strike drones. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that their defense systems successfully intercepted two Zircon anti-ship missiles and 52 drones.
The attack commenced around 6:00 PM on February 15 and involved a variety of weaponry. Specifically, the Russian military utilized:
- Four Zircon anti-ship missiles launched from occupied Crimea;
- One Iskander-M ballistic missile fired from the Bryansk region;
- One Kh-31P guided air-to-surface missile from the Zaporizhia region;
- 62 strike drones, including types such as Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas, originating from multiple locations including Millerovo, Kursk, Bryansk, Shatalovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as Gvardeyskoye in occupied Crimea, with approximately 40 of these being Shahed drones.
By 9:00 AM, Ukrainian defense forces, including aviation units, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups, reported the destruction or suppression of two Zircon missiles and 52 drones of various types.
The assault resulted in confirmed strikes from one missile and nine drones across eight locations, with debris reported at two sites. Details regarding three additional missiles are still being clarified.
“The attack is ongoing, with several enemy drones in the airspace. Please adhere to safety regulations,” the Ukrainian Air Force stated.
