Ukrainian Special Operations Forces announced the complete destruction of a railway bridge over the North Crimean Canal in occupied Crimea on June 23, 2026. This information was shared via the social media platform Threads.
“Apologies, but we have an official urgent update: the railway bridge over the North Crimean Canal in Crimea no longer exists. The first one is gone,” the message stated.
Prior to this announcement, on June 18 and 19, Ukrainian defense forces targeted railway bridges in the Rozdolne area and Vladyslavivka, both located in occupied Crimea.
The bridge near Rozdolne was rendered inoperable on June 18, 2026. The announcement coincided with a broader disruption in Crimea, where authorities declared a halt to all passenger train services on the peninsula. The only connection to Russia remains through Kerch.
Additionally, delays of 1.5 to 4.5 hours have been reported for trains heading to Moscow and St. Petersburg due to the closure of the Crimean Bridge.
On the night of June 23, Ukrainian drone forces reported striking 60 Russian targets in temporarily occupied territories, including Crimea. Among the targets were oil reserves at the Kerch Thermal Power Plant and the Western Crimea substation in the settlement of Kariyernoe. Other hits included a Pantsir-S1 air defense system in Baherove, a S-300 launch system, and a ZU-23-3 anti-aircraft gun in Kurortne, as well as a Nebo-U radar system in Kerch.
