Oleg Doroshchuk, the reigning world indoor high jump champion from Ukraine, commenced his summer season at the Diamond League event in Doha. This marked his first competition following his victory at the World Championships in Torun.
Doroshchuk’s entry into the summer circuit was delayed due to an injury, which had previously forced him to withdraw from the Diamond League stage in Rome. He cited health issues as the reason for his last-minute decision.
In Doha, Doroshchuk successfully cleared four heights, concluding the competition in third place with a best jump of 2.24 meters.
Details of Doroshchuk’s Performance:
- The athlete cleared initial heights of 2.12 and 2.15 meters on his first attempts. He also successfully navigated the 2.20-meter mark, becoming one of four competitors to achieve this height on their first try.
- Only Doroshchuk and Italy’s Matteo Seoli cleared 2.24 meters on their first attempts. Qatari jumper Mutaz Barshim managed this height on his second attempt, marking his best result since winning bronze at the 2024 Olympics. These three athletes continued to compete for the medals.
- Doroshchuk faced his first failure at 2.27 meters, which he could not clear in his subsequent two attempts, ultimately finishing the event in third place.
