Kremlin Praises Russian Air Defense Amid Ongoing Drone Attacks on Moscow

On June 18, the Kremlin commended the performance of Russian air defense forces in response to drone attacks targeting a fuel storage facility in Moscow. Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for President Vladimir Putin, acknowledged the ongoing nature of these aerial assaults during a press briefing.

Peskov stated, “Indeed, drone attacks continue. Appropriate measures are being taken to mitigate the consequences,” emphasizing the government’s proactive stance in addressing the situation.

Following the attacks, which have raised concerns over security in the capital, Peskov highlighted the effectiveness of air defense systems, claiming they have achieved “high” operational results despite the challenges posed by the attacks.

As of June 19, the drone assaults persisted, with Moscow’s mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, reporting that approximately 35 drones had been intercepted. He noted that emergency services were actively engaged in responding to incidents involving debris from the intercepted drones.
