The Ukrainian government has announced a new initiative allowing citizens who have experienced captivity or unlawful detention due to the ongoing conflict to restore lost driver’s licenses or vehicle registration documents at no cost. This decision, confirmed by Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, aims to assist those affected by the war.
On June 18, the Cabinet of Ministers approved this measure, which permits eligible individuals to reclaim their documents once within a year following their release. This initiative is part of broader efforts to support citizens grappling with the aftermath of war.
Klymenko also highlighted that the government has addressed issues faced by families of individuals missing under special circumstances. Guardians appointed to manage the property of these missing persons will now have the ability to restore vehicle registration certificates in the name of the missing individual. This provision is intended to facilitate legal management of assets in the interest of the rightful owners.
“We continue to work on solutions that help quickly resolve the problems of our citizens,” Klymenko stated.
