The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has successfully targeted the ‘Tamannaftegaz’ oil terminal, a critical facility for hydrocarbon transshipment located in southern Russia. This operation was executed in collaboration with special operations forces and military intelligence.
The ‘Tamannaftegaz’ terminal, the largest of its kind in southern Russia, plays a significant role in the handling of liquefied hydrocarbons. According to reports, Ukrainian drones struck five storage tanks containing petroleum products and two oil loading stands at the terminal.
Additionally, fires have erupted in areas surrounding the terminal’s freight transport parking and storage infrastructure. The operation also impacted Russian air defense positions that were providing cover for the facility.
The SBU has emphasized that the Russian oil and gas complex serves as a financial resource for the ongoing conflict against Ukraine. Funds generated from oil sales are reportedly converted into missiles, drones, and ammunition used in attacks on Ukrainian cities.
“Therefore, the SBU will continue to systematically deprive the Russian military machine of resources necessary for waging war,” the agency stated.
