Ukrainian Defense Firm Signs Strategic Partnership with MBDA

The Ukrainian company Ukrainska Bronetekhnika has entered into a strategic partnership with MBDA, a European leader in complex weapon systems. The memorandum was signed on June 10 during the ILA Berlin Air Show.

Vladyslav Belbas, CEO of Ukrainska Bronetekhnika, and Thomas Gottschild, Vice President of Strategy and Future Development at MBDA, formalized the agreement. The initial focus of their collaboration will be on enhancing defense capabilities in the areas of Deep Strike and counter-drone technology.

According to MBDA, the partnership aims to facilitate the exchange of technological expertise, develop joint production programs, and implement innovative solutions. These efforts are intended to provide operational advantages in high-intensity conflicts and lay the groundwork for a joint venture. Further details regarding the broader strategic partnership will be announced in due course.

MBDA emphasized its commitment to supporting Ukraine’s defense industry by ensuring the autonomy of Ukrainian production capabilities. The company aims to leverage its extensive experience in the development, production, and maintenance of missile systems to make a significant contribution.

Belbas described the partnership as a historic step for enhancing Ukraine’s defense capabilities and building a new architecture of European security. He noted that the collaboration combines MBDA’s deep technological expertise with Ukrainska Bronetekhnika’s practical experience in weapon integration amid ongoing conflict. The primary objective is to ensure Ukraine’s technological autonomy and provide its defenders with advanced weaponry to gain an operational advantage on the battlefield.

MBDA is recognized as a leading developer and manufacturer of missile systems and precision-guided munitions. Its product portfolio includes over 45 missile systems that are in service with more than 90 countries worldwide. The company is also involved in the production of key Western weapon systems, including the Patriot, Meteor, Taurus, Storm Shadow/SCALP, and Enforcer missiles.
