The Interflex program, a multinational initiative led by the United Kingdom to train Ukrainian military personnel, is entering a new phase as it approaches its four-year anniversary in June 2026. Since its inception, over 63,000 Ukrainian soldiers, including infantry, commanders, and instructors, have completed training under this program.
The updated Interflex format will emphasize advanced and specialized training aimed at the long-term development of Ukraine’s military capabilities. New training areas will include helicopter aviation instructor preparation, with the first graduates completing their courses last month.
Additionally, the program will enhance medical and engineering training to bolster the practical skills of military units. The Dutch Ministry of Defense has announced that their current rotation marks the end of their contribution to Interflex. However, the initiative will continue under British leadership, focusing on more targeted training areas.
The Dutch authorities emphasized that while their direct involvement in Interflex is concluding, international support for Ukraine remains strong and is being adapted to meet the current needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Despite stepping back from Interflex, the Netherlands will still participate in training Ukrainian soldiers through other initiatives, including the European Union Military Assistance Mission (EUMAM). Meanwhile, events in the UK celebrated four years of the Interflex program, with representatives from partner countries and Ukraine recognizing the project’s achievements and contributions.
The Interflex program is transitioning to a more specialized training approach as the Netherlands concludes its contribution. The initiative, which has trained over 63,000 Ukrainian soldiers, will continue under British leadership while adapting to the evolving needs of Ukraine's military.
