On June 5, Russian forces launched an attack in the Kyiv region, leading to significant casualties and damage. According to Mykola Kalashnyk, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, the air defense forces were engaged during the assault.
As of 10:12 AM, the death toll from the attack in the Brovary district had risen to four. Kalashnyk reported earlier that one person had died due to drone strikes, with four others injured.
“Preliminary information indicates that a strike on a food industry facility in the Brovary district resulted in one fatality. Four individuals sustained injuries,” Kalashnyk stated at 9:18 AM.
He noted that the attack targeted a food processing facility, where an administrative building was engulfed in flames and structural damage was evident.
“According to operational reports, there may still be people trapped inside the building. Rescue teams have already managed to free two workers,” Kalashnyk added.
Emergency services are actively working at the scene, conducting rescue operations and searching for any remaining individuals while also addressing the aftermath of the attack.
Law enforcement has initiated a pre-trial investigation under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code, which pertains to violations of the laws and customs of war resulting in loss of life. The maximum penalty for this offense is life imprisonment.
Context of Previous Attacks
On June 4, a separate Russian attack in the Boryspil district injured a fuel truck driver, who was subsequently hospitalized. This incident caused a fire at an infrastructure site, covering an area of 2,000 square meters, which was extinguished around noon.
Later that day, around 3 PM, Russian forces struck another infrastructure facility, with firefighters managing to extinguish the blaze by 10:38 PM.
In the Brovary district, the recent attack resulted in damage to an administrative building, a boiler house, a cargo truck, a crane, a gas supply pipe, and power lines.
