Nighttime Russian Strike in Dnipro Results in Multiple Casualties

In a nighttime assault on the city of Dnipro, Ukraine, eight individuals, including a young boy and a rescue worker, lost their lives, while 35 others sustained injuries. The attack also affected the nearby city of Kamianske, where three additional people were injured.

According to local authorities, including Dnipro’s mayor Boris Filatov and the head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional military administration, Oleksandr Hanzha, the casualties included a 2023-born child, whose body was recovered from the rubble of a four-story building destroyed in the attack. Hanzha confirmed that the assault resulted in the deaths of eight people in Dnipro.

Among the deceased was a rescue worker and a 60-year-old man who succumbed to his injuries in a hospital. The State Emergency Service (SES) reported that a second strike occurred while rescue operations were underway, leading to the death of another rescue worker.

The ongoing search and rescue operation is focused on the debris of the collapsed building, where authorities believe more individuals may be trapped. As of the latest updates, 35 people have been reported injured in Dnipro, including three children.

Of the injured, 20 individuals have been hospitalized, with four in critical condition, including a 22-year-old male and a 71-year-old female. Another 24 people, including a 16-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl, have been admitted with moderate injuries, while others are receiving treatment at home.

Mayor Filatov indicated that several individuals remain unaccounted for, raising concerns about additional casualties. In Kamianske, three people were reported injured, including a 50-year-old man and two women aged 49 and 72, all of whom were hospitalized in moderate condition. The attack also damaged administrative buildings and residential complexes in the area.

Hanzha noted that the Russian forces targeted five districts in the region with missiles and drones. The Nikopol district was hit, affecting the towns of Chervonohryhorivka, Pokrovsk, and Marhanets, resulting in damage to both apartment buildings and private homes. In the Synelnykove district, a strike targeted the Vasylkiv community, igniting a fire in an unoccupied building. Similarly, the Kryvyi Rih district experienced a strike on the Apostoliv community, which also resulted in a fire.

This incident follows an earlier attack on June 2, when reports indicated five fatalities and 25 injuries in Dnipro.

A recent nighttime strike in Dnipro, Ukraine, has resulted in eight fatalities and numerous injuries, including children. The ongoing rescue efforts highlight the continued impact of military actions on civilian populations in the region.
