Ukrainian Drone Strike Targets Military Assets in Russia

In a significant military operation, Ukrainian drone forces reportedly struck a military airfield in Taganrog, located in Russia’s Rostov region, during the night of May 30. The attack resulted in the destruction of two Tu-142 aircraft, which are long-range anti-submarine bombers based on a strategic bomber design.

According to Robert “Madyar” Brovdi, the commander of the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces, the Tu-142s were targeted at the Taganrog military airbase. Additionally, a tactical missile system known as the Iskander, capable of launching ground-to-ground missiles, was reportedly destroyed at its launch position near the city.

The strike has drawn attention not only for its military implications but also for the collateral damage reported in the area. Yuri Slyusar, the governor of Rostov region, confirmed the drone attack and noted that a private residence was hit, resulting in two injuries. Furthermore, a tanker and a fuel storage facility at the local port caught fire due to the attack, as well as an administrative building.

While the Ukrainian military has claimed responsibility for the destruction of the aircraft and missile system, Russian officials have not confirmed any losses related to military assets. This incident highlights the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, where drone warfare has become increasingly prevalent.

The Ukrainian military has conducted a drone strike on a Russian military airfield, destroying two Tu-142 aircraft and an Iskander missile system. The attack also caused collateral damage in Taganrog, resulting in injuries and fires in civilian structures.
