Russian Strikes Disrupt Power Supply Across Multiple Ukrainian Regions

As of the morning of May 26, Ukrainian energy infrastructure has been partially disabled due to drone and artillery attacks from Russia, affecting consumers in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Zhytomyr regions.

The National Energy Company of Ukraine, Ukrenergo, reported these disruptions via Telegram. Emergency recovery operations have commenced wherever safety conditions permit, with energy workers striving to restore power to all affected consumers as quickly as possible.

“Every effort is being made to reconnect power to those impacted by these attacks,” the company stated.

Ukrenergo also noted a decrease in electricity consumption, which was 1.3% lower at 9:30 AM compared to the same time the previous day. This reduction is attributed to clear weather conditions that enhance the efficiency of residential solar power systems.

“Additionally, a drop in temperatures across most regions has reduced the need for air conditioning, contributing to lower energy demand. The peak consumption recorded on May 25 in the evening was consistent with the maximum from the previous working day, May 22,” the report added.

The energy company urged Ukrainians to shift their energy usage to the hours when solar power generation is most effective, specifically from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Consumers are advised to refrain from using multiple high-power appliances simultaneously between 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM.

Ukrenergo emphasized that the situation within the energy system remains fluid, and residents should check local energy provider pages for the latest updates on power outages.

Ukrainian energy infrastructure has faced significant disruptions due to Russian strikes, affecting several regions. Ukrenergo is actively working on restoration efforts while advising consumers on energy usage patterns.
