Ukrainian Brigade Sets National Record for Defense in Zaporizhia Region

The 118th Separate Mechanized Brigade has been recognized in the Ukrainian Book of Records for its steadfast defense in the vicinity of Mala Tokmachka, located in the Zaporizhia region. The brigade has maintained control of this area for over 1,500 days amidst relentless assaults, artillery bombardments, airstrikes, and drone attacks.

On May 24, the brigade announced the achievement, emphasizing that this national record serves as a historical acknowledgment rather than the ultimate measure of their efforts. The soldiers consider their most significant reward to be every inch of Ukrainian territory they have successfully defended.

“Honor and respect to all soldiers and units who have held and continue to hold the borders in the Mala Tokmachka area.”

Mala Tokmachka is situated just four kilometers from the frontline and faces regular bombardments from Russian forces utilizing guided aerial bombs and artillery. Despite these challenges, the area remains fully under the control of Ukrainian defense forces.

The Ukrainian military has successfully repelled mechanized assaults and attempts by Russian troops to breach the defenses surrounding the village. Notably, on March 28, they thwarted an attack and destroyed a military convoy that aimed to enter Mala Tokmachka.
