Hungary Bans Import of Agricultural Products from Ukraine

The Hungarian government has announced a ban on the import of agricultural products from Ukraine, according to Prime Minister Péter Mádjár. This decision was shared via a post on the social media platform X.

“The government is withdrawing Hungary’s intention to exit the International Criminal Court and is prohibiting the import of agricultural products from Ukraine,” Mádjár stated.

No further details regarding the implementation of this ban were provided by the Prime Minister.

This latest restriction follows the expiration of emergency decrees on May 13, which had previously prohibited imports of Ukrainian agricultural goods. These measures were enacted by the former government led by Viktor Orbán.

Under the previous administration, Hungary had restricted the import of over 20 agricultural products, including:

  • wheat
  • corn
  • sunflower seeds
  • rapeseed
  • flour
  • poultry meat
  • eggs

Hungary's government has reintroduced a ban on agricultural imports from Ukraine, reversing a previous policy. The decision comes after the expiration of earlier emergency measures that restricted various agricultural products.
