Ukrainian Air Defense Intercepts Majority of Russian Drones in Overnight Attack

In the early hours of May 13, Ukrainian air defense forces successfully intercepted 111 out of 139 drones launched by Russian military forces targeting Ukraine. The attack involved multiple types of drones, resulting in strikes on 13 different locations.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported the details of the assault, which began at 6:00 PM on May 12. The drones, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and imitation drones dubbed “Parody,” were launched from various regions including Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, and Chauda in the temporarily occupied Crimea.

Ukrainian defense capabilities, including aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare divisions, and mobile fire groups, were engaged in repelling the aerial assault.

  • As of 8:00 AM, air defense forces had downed or suppressed 111 drones across northern, southern, and eastern Ukraine.
  • Strikes were confirmed on 13 locations, with debris falling in four areas.

The Ukrainian Air Force warned that the attack was ongoing, with numerous Russian drones still present in the airspace.
