Russia Prepares for New Attacks on Ukraine Amid Recent Strikes

Russia is reportedly gearing up for a significant escalation in its attacks on Ukraine, with indications that a new wave of strikes could occur in the coming days. Military movements suggest increased activity at airbases and the repositioning of tactical aviation units.

According to military spokesperson Yuriy Ihnat, intelligence reports indicate preparations for a large-scale offensive. He stated, “There have been numerous reports emerging for a reason—our intelligence, along with information from partners, confirms the redeployment of tactical aircraft and heightened activity at airfields.”

Ihnat elaborated that prior to launching strikes, Russian forces typically prepare their aircraft, a pattern observed in recent days.

In a related incident, Russian forces targeted a residential building in Kryvyi Rih, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to four others, including a nine-month-old girl who is currently in critical condition.

From the evening of May 11 to the morning of May 12, Russia conducted a drone assault involving 216 kamikaze drones, including models such as Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas, as well as imitation drones labeled as Parody. Ukrainian air defense forces managed to intercept or neutralize 192 of these drones across various regions including the north, south, east, and central parts of the country, while 25 drones struck 10 different locations.

It is worth noting that a ceasefire was in effect between Ukraine and Russia from May 9 to May 11, aimed at halting hostilities and facilitating a large-scale prisoner exchange. However, despite the official announcement of a truce, fighting persisted in certain areas, albeit at a reduced intensity.

Russia is reportedly preparing for a new offensive against Ukraine, with military movements indicating imminent strikes. Recent attacks have already resulted in casualties, underscoring the ongoing conflict despite a brief ceasefire.
