On Saturday, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Representative Steve Witkoff met with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani to discuss ongoing negotiations with Iran.
The discussions are centered around a unilateral memorandum aimed at ceasing hostilities and establishing a framework for more comprehensive talks. Qatar has emerged as a crucial mediator in these negotiations.
While Pakistan has officially served as a mediator since the onset of the conflict, Qatari officials have been working behind the scenes to facilitate dialogue.
Sources indicate that the meeting focused on strategies to achieve a memorandum of understanding that would bring an end to the conflict.
Additionally, it was reported that Qatar, Pakistan, Egypt, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia are collaborating to secure a comprehensive agreement.
One source noted, “Mediators are urging both parties to de-escalate and concentrate on reaching an agreement.” This collaborative effort underscores the international community’s interest in stabilizing the region.
Recent discussions between U.S. officials and the Qatari Prime Minister highlight ongoing efforts to mediate a ceasefire agreement with Iran. Multiple countries are collaborating to facilitate negotiations aimed at reducing hostilities.
