Iran Proposes 14-Point Ceasefire Plan to U.S. Amid Stalled Negotiations

The Iranian government has submitted a comprehensive 14-point ceasefire plan to the Biden administration, facilitated by intermediaries from Pakistan. This proposal, reported by the Tasnim news agency, outlines several key demands from Tehran aimed at de-escalating tensions in the region.

Among the conditions set forth by Iran are guarantees against aggression, the withdrawal of U.S. troops from the Middle East, the lifting of a naval blockade, the unfreezing of Iranian assets, reparations, the removal of sanctions, and an end to hostilities on all fronts, including in Lebanon. Additionally, the plan calls for the establishment of a new operational framework for the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Axios, which cited sources familiar with the matter, the plan includes a one-month deadline for negotiations to restore operations in the Strait of Hormuz, terminate the U.S. maritime blockade, and conclude the ongoing conflicts.

Following any agreement, further discussions regarding Iran’s nuclear program are anticipated, also expected to last one month, as indicated by the sources.

U.S. President Donald Trump has already expressed skepticism regarding the Iranian proposal. In a post on his Truth Social platform, he stated, “I will soon review the plan that Iran just sent us, but I cannot imagine it being acceptable, as Iran has yet to pay a sufficiently high price for what it has done to humanity and the world over the past 47 years.”

Since early April, a ceasefire has been in place between Iran and the U.S., but negotiations have stalled, with both sides struggling to reach consensus on significant issues, including Iran’s nuclear ambitions and the freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran has presented a detailed ceasefire plan to the U.S. through Pakistani intermediaries, outlining several demands aimed at reducing regional tensions. President Trump has expressed doubt about the plan's acceptability, highlighting ongoing challenges in negotiations over critical issues.
