On the evening of May 2, the Kyiv region experienced an atypical drone attack by Russian forces, utilizing imitation drones known as “Parody” to distract Ukrainian air defense systems.
Reports indicate that this assault was distinct from previous attacks, with residents noting the unusual appearance of the drones in several areas. Following a lengthy hiatus of several months, the enemy deployed a significant number of these imitation drones.
The primary objective of these drones is to divert attention from Ukrainian air defense, resulting in dozens of them flying over the Kyiv region.
According to a defense advisor, the enemy is consistently testing new tactics for drone deployment. He emphasized that the Defense Forces’ mission involves analyzing, studying, predicting, and countering these strategies.
Explosions were reported in Kyiv during the evening, coinciding with the drone attack. The air defense systems were activated as the city faced an onslaught of Russian drones.
At approximately 4:30 PM, the Air Forces issued a warning regarding the threat posed by enemy drones, with the attack continuing into the night. Ukrainian air defense successfully engaged the hostile drones throughout the incident.
