Ukraine has expressed its willingness to collaborate with Japan in the field of drone technology, offering to share insights gained from its extensive military experience during the ongoing conflict with Russia. This announcement was made by Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
The interest from Japan comes as the country considers enhancing its defense capabilities. Reports indicate that Tokyo is exploring the potential use of Ukrainian-manufactured drones that have been refined through combat operations.
Sybiha emphasized that beyond technological cooperation, Ukraine is keen on fostering political dialogue with Japan. The Ukrainian government anticipates a possible meeting between President Volodymyr Zelensky and Japanese officials during the upcoming G7 summit.
Additionally, the minister highlighted Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to strengthen defense partnerships with various nations, leveraging its experience in countering drone and missile attacks.
Sybiha also cautioned against any reduction in sanctions pressure on Russia, stating that easing restrictions could hinder peace efforts and adversely affect the war cessation process.
Previously, President Zelensky had noted that Ukraine is working towards developing its own air defense system in collaboration with European nations that possess robust defense industries.
Ukraine is actively pursuing collaboration with Japan on drone technology, reflecting its broader strategy to enhance defense partnerships amid ongoing conflict. The Ukrainian government is also focused on maintaining sanctions against Russia to support peace efforts.
