Trump Rejects Iran’s Latest Peace Proposal Amid Ongoing Tensions

U.S. President Donald Trump has publicly criticized Iran’s recent proposal aimed at ending the ongoing conflict, expressing skepticism about the potential for a successful agreement.

Trump conveyed his dissatisfaction with the document submitted by Iran, although he did not specify which elements were problematic. He described the proposal as unacceptable, stating, “They want to make a deal. I’m not happy with it.”

The U.S. leader suggested that internal divisions within Iran might hinder any agreement, pointing to significant discrepancies among its leadership. He remarked, “The leadership is very fragmented. There are two or three groups, maybe four, and it’s a very divided leadership. They all want to make a deal, but they are all flawed.”

Negotiations between the U.S. and Iran have gained attention recently, particularly following Iran’s submission of a new proposal in late April 2026. This plan aimed to halt hostilities and restore security in the Strait of Hormuz.

As part of the proposal, Tehran suggested postponing discussions on nuclear issues to focus on achieving peace first. Subsequently, it was reported that Iran shared the text of its peace negotiation plan with Pakistan, emphasizing the priority of ceasing hostilities and establishing peace.

Despite these developments, Trump has claimed that the U.S. has already achieved victory over Iran. However, he also noted that the nuclear threat from Tehran remains a concern, indicating that the U.S. intends to pursue further advantages.

President Trump has dismissed Iran's recent peace proposal, highlighting internal divisions within Iranian leadership as a barrier to agreement. The U.S. remains focused on addressing the ongoing conflict and the nuclear threat posed by Iran.
