Investigation Reveals Lavish Lifestyle of Former Military Official in Odessa

A recent investigation has unveiled the extravagant lifestyle of former military official Bohdan Vaskevych, linked to the Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support (TCK) in Odessa. The revelations came to light after his fiancée, Alina, a blogger from Odessa, shared photos that inadvertently showcased Vaskevych’s opulent living conditions.

The investigation, conducted by the journalists of “Slidstvo.Info,” highlighted that Vaskevych has been living in luxury real estate owned by a relative. The images posted by Alina included snapshots taken at a premium hotel in Lviv and an upscale spa complex, with the lowest room rate at the hotel starting at 12,000 hryvnias per night.

Identifying Vaskevych through a distinctive tattoo on his arm, reporters confirmed his identity as the former deputy military commissioner of one of Odessa’s TCKs, a position he held for over eight years. Alina’s photos also featured her in a luxury residential complex in Odessa, where it was discovered that a 145-square-meter apartment and parking space belong to Vaskevych’s uncle, Ihor Rozhko.

Records indicate that the apartment was purchased three years ago for 5.5 million hryvnias, despite similar properties currently listed for around 20 million hryvnias. An appraisal document valued the apartment at nearly 11 million hryvnias, excluding renovation costs, which could add another 10 million hryvnias based on the quality observed in the images.

Interestingly, Rozhko, the documented owner of the apartment, is reported to have earned only 160,000 hryvnias from his teaching career between 2000 and 2018, raising questions about the source of the funds for such a property.

Ongoing Investigations

Bohdan Vaskevych and his father, Arkadiy, are currently subjects of an investigation by the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR), initiated in 2025. Arkadiy, who served as the head of the Ovidiopol TCK, is suspected of accepting bribes to facilitate evasion from military conscription. Allegedly, he used the illicit funds to acquire various properties and vehicles registered under family members’ names.

Bohdan Vaskevych faces accusations of deliberately including false information in his declaration while serving as deputy head of recruitment and staffing. Investigators believe he failed to disclose assets he was utilizing.

Recent Arrests Linked to TCK

On April 21, 2023, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained several TCK employees in Odessa, who were reportedly demanding $30,000 from a local resident under duress. Authorities confirmed the arrest of five individuals, including four from the TCK in the Peresyp district.

Following these events, the leadership of the Odessa regional TCK and the Peresyp TCK was suspended from duty. A court subsequently imposed preventive measures on the detained individuals, with one suspect, born in 1997, remanded in custody without bail for 60 days. All five face serious charges, including kidnapping and armed robbery.

Further, the court ordered similar custody without bail for two other military personnel involved, as well as a 45-year-old law enforcement officer who was present during the incident.

An investigation has uncovered the luxurious lifestyle of Bohdan Vaskevych, a former military official in Odessa, linked to ongoing corruption inquiries. His lavish living conditions and the financial discrepancies related to his property ownership raise serious questions about his conduct while in office.
