In Ukraine, specific restrictions are in place regarding the travel of women holding public office, despite no blanket ban on women’s exit from the country. This information was confirmed by lawyer Yaroslav Khlyvnyy in a recent interview.
According to Khlyvnyy, the restrictions primarily affect women in high-ranking government positions, including members of the Cabinet, heads of central government bodies, and their deputies. The limitations also extend to lawmakers, judges, law enforcement officials, and leaders of state-owned enterprises.
Additionally, local government representatives and senior officials within state structures are subject to these restrictions. However, travel is permitted under certain conditions, such as for official business trips, vacations, or when accompanying individuals who require care.
Border checks are facilitated through the electronic system known as “Arkan,” which is integrated with state registries, allowing border guards to verify an individual’s status during border crossings.
Khlyvnyy emphasized that no additional restrictions apply to female medical professionals, and the requirement for military documents at border crossings is deemed unlawful.
Thus, the travel limitations are specifically targeted at certain categories of officials whose roles are linked to the functioning of the state during the ongoing martial law.
Situation of Ukrainians Abroad
Recent reports indicate a shift in attitude towards Ukrainian refugees in the Czech Republic, where authorities are considering stricter measures to revoke temporary protection status or even deport individuals. This decision follows amendments to the temporary protection program for Ukrainians within the European Union.
In Germany, Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that Berlin would support the return of Ukrainian refugees who have sought asylum in Germany, following discussions with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
