In a recent statement on Truth Social, former President Donald Trump expressed optimism regarding the situation between the United States and Iran, asserting that developments are progressing favorably for the U.S.
Trump stated, “I will win the war [against Iran], things are going very well, our military has been incredible.” He criticized various media outlets, including The New York Times and The Washington Post, suggesting that their coverage misrepresents the reality of the conflict.
According to Trump, Iran’s naval capabilities have been completely dismantled, and he claimed that the country lacks effective missile and air defense systems. He noted that many of Iran’s former leaders have disappeared, which he interpreted as a sign of regime change.
Furthermore, Trump reiterated his commitment to maintaining sanctions against Iran, emphasizing that they would not be lifted until a deal is reached. He estimated that Iran is currently losing $500 million daily, a situation he described as unsustainable for the country’s survival in the short term.
Trump also accused what he termed “anti-American fake news media” of supporting Iran’s victory, asserting that such an outcome is impossible under his leadership.
Prior to these comments, Trump had indicated that he was unlikely to extend a two-week ceasefire with Iran unless an agreement was reached before its expiration. He also made it clear that he would not reopen the Strait of Hormuz until a deal was finalized.
