Ukraine Encourages Energy Conservation Amid Stable Supply Forecast

On April 20, Ukraine will not impose any restrictions on electricity consumption, but citizens are urged to use energy wisely during peak hours.

According to energy officials, there are no plans for scheduled outages on Monday. Despite the absence of limitations, consumers are encouraged to practice conscious energy use.

Specifically, experts recommend reducing the load on the grid during the evening hours from 6 PM to 10 PM. It is advised to limit the use of high-powered appliances during this time to help maintain stability in the energy system.

In preparation for the upcoming heating season, the Association of Ukrainian Cities recently outlined critical conditions for readiness. These include enhancing the protection of housing and communal services from potential attacks, settling a 72 billion hryvnia debt to heating suppliers, and providing comprehensive support to the population.

Previously, Ukrainian Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal announced plans to begin construction of a new generation facility with a capacity of 1.3 GW, aimed at bolstering the country’s energy system.

Experts emphasize that streamlining connection regulations to the grid is essential for expediting this process and reducing the duration of outages. The Ukrainian Wind Energy Association has suggested allowing investors to independently construct substations, which could save the energy system between three to twelve months in development time.

Ukraine is set to avoid electricity restrictions on April 20, while urging citizens to conserve energy during peak hours. As the country prepares for the heating season, officials are focusing on strengthening the energy infrastructure and addressing existing debts to suppliers.
