Ukrainian officials have reported the potential for further air strikes by Russian forces during the night of April 14-15. Unmanned aerial vehicles have already been detected in Ukrainian airspace, raising concerns of imminent attacks.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that earlier in the day, Russian forces targeted a fuel station in Dnipro, resulting in fatalities and approximately 30 injuries. He warned that the night could see additional strikes, mentioning the presence of numerous Iranian-made Shahed drones in the sky.
Russian forces have consistently launched large-scale attacks across Ukraine, with civilian infrastructure frequently targeted. Energy facilities have been a primary focus, leading to widespread electricity supply issues throughout the country.
On April 10, significant strikes were reported in Odesa and its surrounding areas, where the enemy targeted energy and port infrastructure. Damage was noted to port equipment and empty storage tanks, with the strikes causing power outages in the city.
Air assaults had seen a temporary reduction during a ceasefire declared by President Vladimir Putin for the Christmas period. However, the lull in aerial attacks did not correlate with a decrease in ground confrontations, as the Ukrainian General Staff reported ongoing clashes with occupying forces.
Ukrainian authorities are preparing for potential air strikes as Russian forces continue their assault on civilian infrastructure. Recent attacks have resulted in casualties and widespread power outages, particularly affecting energy facilities.
