Ukrainian Air Defense Intercepts Majority of Drones in Overnight Attack

In the early hours of April 13, Russian forces launched a significant drone assault, deploying 98 strike drones, primarily of the Shahed type, along with models named Gerbera and Italmas. The attack began at 12:10 AM and targeted various locations across Ukraine.

As of 8:00 AM, preliminary reports indicated that Ukrainian air defense successfully intercepted and neutralized 87 of these hostile drones. The defensive efforts were concentrated in the northern and eastern regions of the country.

Despite the high interception rate, nine drones managed to strike nine different sites, with debris from the downed drones landing in one additional location. The defensive response involved a coordinated effort from aviation units, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups from the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

The aerial assault is ongoing, with enemy drones still present in Ukrainian airspace.

A major drone attack by Russian forces on April 13 saw Ukrainian air defense intercept the majority of hostile drones. Despite high interception rates, some drones still managed to hit various locations.
