A recent drone strike in Odesa, Ukraine, resulted in the tragic deaths of Anastasia Pohorelova, an educator, and her husband. This incident occurred during a series of attacks by Russian forces on April 11, 2026, targeting various infrastructure in the region.
Anastasia Pohorelova was an active member of the local educational community. She had worked as a preschool teacher at Educational Institution No. 52 in 2019 and, since December 2025, served as the deputy director for administrative and economic affairs at Lyceum No. 16.
According to neighbors, the drone attack struck a residential building, igniting a fire that ultimately led to the discovery of the couple’s bodies beneath the rubble. In addition to the fatalities, a 69-year-old woman sustained injuries and was hospitalized.
The attack on Odesa involved multiple drone strikes that targeted residential, industrial, energy, and transportation infrastructure. Reports indicate that one drone hit a residential building, while another struck a 12-story apartment complex without detonating. Additionally, a fire broke out on the roof of a dormitory.
The Odesa regional prosecutor’s office has initiated a preliminary investigation into the incident, citing potential war crimes under Article 438, Part 2 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code.
Throughout the night, air raid alerts were issued multiple times in the Odesa region. The first alert occurred from 00:20 to 01:02, during which explosions were heard around 00:28. The Ukrainian Air Force reported the movement of drones from the Black Sea towards the city. Subsequent alerts were issued from 1:05 to 2:07, and again from 4:25 to 5:05 and 5:49 to 6:36.
