Tecno has unveiled its official rollout schedule for the HiOS 16 firmware, which is based on Android 16. This update, anticipated by users, promises enhanced AI integration and a completely revamped user interface, despite competitors already testing the next version of the operating system.
The rollout will occur gradually throughout 2026, with availability varying by region and mobile operator certification.
During the second quarter of 2026, specifically from April to June, flagship models from the latest lineup, including the Camon 40 and Camon 40 Pro (including 5G and Premier versions), will be the first to receive the new system.
In the third quarter, from July to September, the update will extend to the popular Camon 30 series and several devices from the POVA lineup, including models 7, 7 Pro, 7 Ultra, Neo, and Slim 5G.
By the end of the year, in the fourth quarter, foldable smartphones such as the Phantom V Fold2 5G and Phantom V Flip2 5G will receive Android 16.
The HiOS 16 update emphasizes the concept of “Superfluidity,” featuring visual effects reminiscent of liquid glass. This design choice aims to enhance the smoothness of animations and the clarity of transitions between windows.
Additionally, the “Minus One” screen has been redesigned for improved access to smart services without needing to open individual applications.
A significant new feature is the AI assistant Ella, which has been more deeply integrated into the system. Ella can now summarize lengthy YouTube videos and interact with WhatsApp, facilitating message reading and response formulation.
The system also includes expanded AIGC tools for content generation. Users can manually check for updates in the “Settings” menu under the “System” section.
